Google tablet to launch in July?

Possible Google tablet?

The news about the Google tablet have surfaced again. And this time the report says that the tablet will be launching in July, 2012.

The 7-inch tablet will be manufactured by ASUS, according to the news and will initially be produced in a total of 600,000.

The same report also states that it is expected that the tablet will reach a production of a total of 2,000,000 units for the whole year of 2012.

The Google tablet is expected to run (of course) on the Android operating system, on version 4.0. The tablet will be powered by a quad-core chip.

So far, this will be the fourth major player entering the tablet market after Apple, Amazon and Samsung who have already hit users with tablets and mini tablets alike.  Read the rest of this entry »

After the phone, here come the (official) wallpapers for the Nokia Windows Phone. The wallpapers were created by graphic design Levi Freeman.

Levi, based in London, created the wallpapers and these are the first ones to carry the official seal of approval by the Windows Phone team.

According to the Windows Team Blog, this will hopefully be only the first of such collaborations with artists that will produce works for the Windows Phone(s).

Levi himself is a graduate of the University of Arts London and has launched the collaboration on the Windows Phone, after he attracted the attention of Albert Shum, responsible for running the Windows Phone design studio.  Read the rest of this entry »

Fitch Ratings demotes Cyprus banks

One more time we have been reminded that the three main banks in Cyprus are heavily exposed to the economic crisis situation in Greece, due to the banks’ dependencies on Greece’s economic infrastructure.

Fitch Ratings has demoted today the Bank of Cyprus, Hellenic Bank and Laiki Bank.

The first two banks have been demoted from “b-” to “bb-” on the VR (Viability Rating) scale, while Popular Bank has been demoted from “b-” to the much lower “f”.

According to Reuters “Fitch Ratings has placed Bank of Cyprus (BOC), Cyprus Popular Bank (CPB) and Hellenic Bank’s (HB) Long-term Issuer Default Ratings (IDRs) and Support Rating Floors (SRFs) of ‘BB+’ and Support Ratings of ’3′ on Rating Watch Negative (RWN). At the same time, the agency has downgraded BOC’s and HB’s Viability Rating (VR) to ‘b-’ from ‘bb-’ and CPB’s to ‘f’ from ’b-’. Samsung Galaxy S III and the 9 million pre-orders

According to Samsung Electronics, 9 million pre-order requests have been received by the company for its new Galaxy S III phone. The pre orders are coming from more than 100 telecom carriers worldwide.

Samsung already surpassed Apple as a smartphone maker and all has been due to its very popular Galaxy series of phones. Samsung is of course using the free Android platform, published by Google.

The Samsung Galaxy S III will first be launched in Germany on the 29th of May, 2012 and will then be made available in more countries.

According to the news sources Samsung’s (smartphone) factory in South Korea is running at full capacity, which allows it to produce 5 million smartphones per month.

The company itself made no comments on the above.

Chelsea FC wins Bayern Munich during penalty shootout and the Champions League trophy for first time

Chelsea FC, Champions League 2012, Chelsea Champions, FC BayernWhat a final that was between Bayern FC and Chelsea FC, last night at Allianz Arena in Munich. Two of the top European football clubs played each other at what ended up to be a thrilling game, offering even an agonizing penalty shootout.

Chelsea FC won Bayern Munich at the penalties with a score of 4 – 3. The game ended 1 – 1 during its normal period with Bayern losing its chance to go ahead in the score for a second time, after Arjen Robben lost a penalty won by his team.

Overall, Bayern was better than Chelsea FC, with the German team showing its dominance throughout normal time,as well as during the extra time. Read the rest of this entry »

Virgin Atlantic has launched its much awaited Upper Class Suite on its transatlantic A330 flight between London and New York.

The latest changes on this specific route’s planes are the result of a collaboration between Virgin’s internal design team with studio Pengelly Design, which is based in London, UK.

The Upper Class Suite is fitted with new shiny looks, mood lighting and even Swarovski Crystal decorations.

The personal suites of the Upper Class feature leather seats, all having their own access to the aisle; helping you to get in and out of your space whenever you need, without disturbing the people around you at all.

According to Virgin, the beds fitted to the suites are longer than those of any other airline. Frosted Perspex dividers give everyone the privacy they need during the flight, plus ideal light conditions.  Read the rest of this entry »
